AAP Subspecialty Day of Action

The Senate will soon be considering medical workforce legislation, and we need your help to urge them to address shortages of pediatric subspecialists. Mark your calendars for the AAP Subspecialty Day of Action on Thursday, October 10, when ASPN members will be joining other pediatric subspecialists across the Academy w to build support for the Investment in Tomorrow’s Pediatric Health Care Workforce Act (S. 2443). 

ASPN supports policies to address the shortage of pediatric nephrologists, including S. 2443 which would reauthorize the Pediatric Subspecialty Loan Repayment Program. The program provide up to $35,000 per year for up to three years in exchange for practicing in an underserved area. You can learn more about efforts to reauthorize this program in the Subspecialty Day of Action Toolkit, which has everything you need to learn more about the Day of Action and prepare to mobilize on October 10. This includes background on pediatric subspecialty shortages, information about the legislative ask, and messages to share with your senators on the Day of Action. 

By coming together on October 10, pediatric subspecialists will speak with a unified voice on critical pediatric workforce shortages relevant to all pediatric subspecialties and urge senators to cosponsor the Investment in Tomorrow’s Pediatric Health Care Workforce Act.
